About me and my approach

I have always been deeply interested in peoples’s stories and how they come to become who they are. For me there’s something special in hearing the journey of another, no matter where they now find themselves.

My interest in how people come to be who they are led me to study a Bachelors of Psychology at Curtin University (Bentley) and then a Masters of Counselling at Notre Dame University (Fremantle). These provided the evidenced based foundation for the work I have the privilege of being involved with now. Being an avid reader, as I worked in the field of counselling I knew that my learning could not stop just because university was finished. As such, I became interested in the work of Carl Jung and his students as well as Internal Family Systems pioneered by Richard Schwartz and looked to integrate these ideas into my own practice.

Of particular interest to me was the ideas of the subconscious, dream work, archetypes and the truth that every human is composed of many different parts within themselves, each of which seeks to be heard and has its own wants and desires. While these ways of thinking interest me, you should note that what is of most importance to me in a therapeutic setting is that I meet you - with a way of working that is best to you. I do not want to do a type of therapy to you - I want to create something individual that can work best to help you on your journey.

Outside of the counselling space I am a BJJ Black Belt, running a business in that martial art. I enjoy seeing new places and trying new experiences, going to the sauna, practising yoga, reading and spending time with my friends and family.
